Thanks to everyone who helped make gas for groceries a huge success. Not only were we able to provide discounted gas but we were able to help feed the hungry in the Grand Strand. We were also able to meet and personally invite over 170 families to attend our Grand Opening. We had a great day and can't wait to do it again. Gas for Groceries will take place on Saturday, September 12 from Noon to 2 pm at the Kangaroo Gas Station on the corner of 21st Ave N and 17-Bypass in Myrtle Beach.
We will be lowering the price of gas 25 cents per gallons for that two-hour time frame in an effort to raise food for the Low Country Food Bank. All we are asking in return is that you donate at least 4 non-perishable food items.
This
page contains all the details for the event. We hope to see you on Saturday, September 12.
In compliance with the City of Myrtle Beach, below are the traffic instructions for Gas for Groceries.
The line will open at 11:50 am.
The only way to enter the gas station will be going west on 21 Ave N.
The only way to exit the gas station will be turning right on 21st Ave N onto the bypass. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
We anticipate a huge turn out for this event and encourage folks to keep trying if they can’t get in the line the first time.
What is Gas for Groceries?
Gas for Groceries is exactly what it sounds like, we’re lowering the price of gas 25 cents per gallon in return for you donating non-perishable food items to help the Lowcountry Food Bank.
How do I participate?
It’s simple. We’ll have a lane of traffic blocked off (see map) that will open at 11:50 am on the day of the event. Just get in line and wait your turn.
Can I get in line earlier?
As a safety precaution and to keep traffic flowing on 21st N, people will not be able to get in line before 11:50 am on the day of the event.
If I get there and the line is full, what should I do?
The City of Myrtle Beach has graciously allowed us to close a lane of traffic specifically for this event. As a safety precaution, once this lane is full, we’ll ask cars to circle the block and try to get in line again so as not to cause any unneeded traffic congestion.
How many items should I donate?
We are asking people to donate a minimum of 4 items, but feel free to donate more if you would like.
Are there certain items I should bring?
Yes. Click the "What to Bring" tab above to see a complete list of recommended foods to bring.
What if I don’t want the gas but just want to bring food, can I do that?
Of course. We’ll be at the location from 12-2. Feel free to drop by anytime and donate some food.
Why are you doing this?
Because we LOVE Myrtle Beach and wanted to give back. Everyone loves cheap gas so we knew it would be hit. We also saw an opportunity to help those less fortunate than us by incorporating the food drive. For us, it was a no brainer.
Will you do this event again in the future?
We plan to. Check back at wellspringchurch.tv for upcoming events.
We ask that everyone bring four non-perishable food items in order to get a 25 cent per gallon discount. Below is a list to give you an idea of what to bring.
